Our Mission
The Cheshire Community Action Team (CCAT) is dedicated to enhancing life in the Hamlet of Cheshire, NY. We raise awareness of community issues, strengthen neighborly connections, support youth development, and serve as a vital link between residents and local government. CCAT also champions local businesses, artists, and the preservation of Cheshire’s rich history, rural character, and peaceful charm.
Current Projects
The Heart of Cheshire Campaign
The Heart Of Cheshire Campaign is a fundraising mission to restore the historic Cheshire Theater and Meeting Hall. This building, built in 1898 has served many different purposes in it’s lifetime. When first built this building was used as the Knights of the Maccabees Hall, then later was home to Academy Grange No. 62. This space hosted everything from theater productions and holiday dinners to civic meetings and community dances.
Since the 1970s, the building has sat largely unused—its historic walls waiting for their next chapter.
Now, CCAT is working to restore it to it’s former glory and offer Cheshire a welcoming space to experience the arts, embrace creativity, and create community connection. The Hamlet Hootenanny hosted in June 2026 was the initial kickoff event of this campaign. Much work has been done but we need your help to keep things moving.
